Frequently Asked Questions
1. How durable is stucco & how long will it last?
Stucco withstands Alberta’s climate whether it is too hot or too cold. Damage may be caused and may require repairs however we do offer a 3 year warranty to take care of any of this and ensure satisfaction. Stucco has an estimated lifespan of 70 to 90 years and requires very little maintenance.
2. Can I paint stucco to get the colour I want?
Stucco can be painted. We use 100% waterproof acrylic paint and you can pick any colour your desire and we will colour match.
3. How do I clean stucco exterior surfaces?
Stucco can be cleaned effectively. It is recommended to wet the stucco surfaces starting from the bottom and working toward the top. Pre-wetting the surface allows the surface to shed water and loosen soil so they may be rinsed right away. Using a garden hose is sufficient and effective for cleaning stucco exteriors.
4. Can stucco be installed in the winter or does it have to be warm outside?
Stucco should be applied only when the weather is 5 degrees Celsius or above. However, stucco can be completed in the winter by use of an enclosed source of heat such as draping tarps. Why? There is a curing time required before applying additional coats. As temperatures drop lower, it leads to a slower evaporation resulting in the materials curing more slowly which compromises the strength and durability of the finished product.
5. What type of paint do you use to paint over stucco?
When applying stucco to the exterior of a property, an acrylic finish coat is applied. You may choose any colour imaginable. Acrylic paint is 100% waterproof and both UV and fade resistant.
